On October 21, 2009, in the context of the Italian Film Industry summit meeting promoted by the Fondazione Cinema per Roma, the General Directorate for the Film Industry of the Ministry for Cultural Heritage and Activities is promoting an important European workshop on the movie theater digitalization process.
The event will be promoted with the contribution of the European Union structures involved and film industry trade associations.
The workshop will also show the commitment of the Italian authorities competent in this field on the occasion of the public consultation on these matters, which was recently launched by the European Union.
The European workshop that will be held in Rome will also be an opportunity for different film industries to meet thus triggering a debate between different institutions, different companies, Italian and foreign operators on crucial matters such as:
- Legislation and other measures to support the digitalization process: Europe and individual countries;
- Movie theaters going digital seen from the point of view of the general process of convergence of the film industry and its shift towards the digital economy markets;
- The digitalization of movie theaters and technological standards;
- The opportunities that may be created by new supply policies and by new business models.
Time scale, reference information, detailed description of the themes under study will all be available on the dedicated workshop web site that will be launched very shortly and whose address will be communicated as soon as it is available.
